Why choose this resort?
Set amongst some of Europe’s most outstanding scenery, the UNESCO Heritage centre of Dachstein West has proved to be a popular destination with our school groups for years. Offering 142kms of skiable terrain, everyone from newbies to advanced skiers will have numerous options to choose from. Tucked away in the heart of Austria, continued improvements to the lift system mean there are now 23 lifts including state-of-the-art chairlifts in place to transport groups around the slopes. The unspoilt and welcoming resorts linked with this ski area are steeped in tradition providing a great atmosphere and value for money. From the former royal spa town of Bad Ischl set in the heart of the Austrian Lake District to Strobl found west of Lake Wolfgang and Gosau providing an equally charming base, each option provides access to a range of facilities and après-ski activities.
On the slopes
The Dachstein Mountains provide a beautiful setting for the school ski trip. Those new to the slopes will appreciate the almost 30 hillocks to help learn the basics before moving onto the long, tree-lined blue runs in Gosau or the Astauwinkle in Annaberg. Intermediates can explore an endless amount of red runs on the Zweiselalm with good links to Annaberg and Russbach, while advanced skiers are not forgotten with some testing black runs. The 91% snowmaking capability has increased in coverage year on year enabling schools to enjoy Dachstein West throughout the season. 4 terrain parks including the snowpark on the Edtalmbahn in Russbach have been designed by freeride experts to include a number of obstacles for boarders and freestyle skiers to enjoy during their stay.
